Busy business this week 💼
SpaceX has won a $2.9 billion contract from NASA to build a Moon Lander 🌗🚀! So far since 1969 only 12 humans have ever landed on the moon, but no one has been on it since 1972, i.e nearly 50 years. SpaceX is likely to use the Starship program that is being designed to take humans to Mars.
From electric cars in our previous edition to Electric Planes 🛩 in this, the EV space is heating up. Bye Aerospace (yes Bye, as in bye bye 👋), revealed a 8 seater conventional aircraft called the eFlyer 800 with a target range of 500 Aeronautical Miles. There are a host of challenges they must overcome like ensuring batteries are fire 🔥 proof! Do you think there will be electric planes flying by 2030? Discuss with Mom or a big person at home.
Apple launched a new line of super sleek iMacs, a purple iPhone 12, new iPads, and AirTags. Under supervision of mom, dad or a big person at home, hunt what the first iMac looked like :)
Bloomberg reported that US President Biden is due to reveal a plan that increases Capital Gains Tax to 43% ⚡️, nearly doubling it. The Dow tanked by 300 points on the news. There is a lot of debate about Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax parity. Its a complex debate - discuss with a big person at home.
Voice 🎤 search grew over 270% in India. When we think of Search, the first thing we probably think of is Google and “typing in” 📇 what you’re searching for. The Mobile Marketing Association just released a report that shows Voice is growing as a major alternate to typing in searches. What impacts will this have on Search Advertising? Tax, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax: A tax is a charge 💰 that typically citizens pay to a Government. Taxes are used to then develop 🏗 , manage and run the country. There are various types of Taxes; key among them are Income Tax, Corporate Tax and Capital Gains Tax. Income Tax is paid by people on their Income and ranges from 25-45% typically, though it widely differs by country. Corporate Tax is tax paid by companies 🏭 on their Profits. Capital Gains Tax is a bit more complex and is applied on the Gains (Profit) you make from selling assets like a Home 🏠, Stocks 📊and so on - historically this has been lower than Income Tax and ranges from 10 to 30%. Dow: The Dow or the Dow Jones Industrial Index 💹 is a set of 30 stocks of large companies, and is used to understand and predict how well the overall US stock market is performing.
Search Advertising: When you and I search 🔍 for something on a site like Google, the site (Google) uses this information, of what we are looking for, to advertise similar matching products and services to us. Its one of the most effective ways to advertise in Digital Advertising.
AR or Augmented Reality: Augmented Reality 👓 is nothing but the real world around us (reality), “augmented” or overlaid with digital items. I.e. it is a way to show you digital characters or digital interactions, that could even be games 🎮, in a way that these digital characters and interactions look like they are existing and happening in the real world around us.
3D Printing: Like printing, but think 3 dimensional i.e. imagine printing something with Length, Breadth and Height or anything with volume. Using 3D printing you can make a key chain, an action figure or even a Home 🏡.
Aeronautical Mile: Aeronautical Mile or Nautical Mile = 1.15x Miles = 1.85 Kms.

Amazon just announced it’s opening a hair salon. 😬 Don’t worry Robots 🤖 won’t be cutting your hair at this Salon (anytime soon), but you will be able to use AR aka Augmented Reality 👓 to see what your hair would look like in different colours, and maybe styles? 🤔
Would you live in a 3D printed home 🏡? You might just, not far from now. Did you know that 3D home company SQ4D listed a 3D printed family home for sale in the US in December 2021 🙂? Bill & Melinda Gates run the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - believed to be the largest private foundation in the world with a focus on enhancing healthcare and reducing poverty. Bill Gates (William Henry Gates III) was also the co-founder of Microsoft. What makes them inspiring is that they’ve pledge to give away majority of their wealth to charity as part of the Giving Pledge. Their total net worth is around $130 billion and they have already donated more than $50 billion to charity.

My dad insisted we put this section in here, even though I protested saying its going to be a while before kids need to apply mental models. Mental models are nothing but ways of thinking, you can use as a framework, to take decisions or solve problems. Who knows, they might just be useful!
Regret Minimisation Framework 🧘 - Given what many are going through, we hope you find this a powerful framework for decision making.
As the name suggests, the Regret Minimisation Framework basically tells you to minimise regrets 🤷; and makes you ask yourself - "Will I regret doing this?" When faced with two choices, just think about which option you would regret more, and go with that. Minimise regrets. 🙏
Jeff Bezos (remember the founder of Amazon?) used this framework when deciding to start Amazon.

NASA successfully flew the Ingenuity Helicopter 🚁 on Mars this 19th April 2021. Marking it as the first day a ‘controlled flight’ took place on another planet. The Ingenuity copter landed in the Jezero Crater, Mars (aboard the Perseverance Rover) on Feb. 18, 2021.
Now here is an Electric production car that looks like a Concept car - Cadillac just launched Lyriq - an all Electric SUV with a 300 mile range 🛸 . Mercedes EQS from (our earlier Edition) should get a few hints. Discuss what is a production vs. concept car with Dad or a big person at home.
