Bitcoin crashed 📉📉📉 from its $63,000 April high to $30,302 last week Wednesday, after China announced steps to curb crypto currencies by banning banks & payment firms from offering crypto currency transactions. Ethereum, another popular cryptocurrency also plunged to under $2000. Both showed some recovery with Bitcoin price hovering 🛸 around $37,000 at the time of writing this newsletter. The crash wiped out about $1 Trillion 🤯 in crypto’s market value.
Bids for the seat on Blue Origin’s maiden space tourism flight are already over $2 million! 💰 We’re wondering why the bidder wouldn’t just get a $250,000 Virgin Galactic ticket 🤔.
Its here! Ford launched the F-150 Lightning ⚡️ all-EV SUV Truck with prices starting at $39,974!! And that’s before tax credits. Over 44,000 of them have been booked in < 48 hours!!! (We can’t stop adding ! marks). Its got some amazing features too - with a 300 mile range and super speed.. capable of 0-60 miles in about 4.5 seconds, and.. wait for it.. it can power your house for 3 whole days!!!! Supercar company Lamborghini, will also join the all EV bandwagon by 2025.

Cryptocurrency, Bitcoins (refresher): Cryptocurrencies for e.g. Bitcoin are digital currency created, and owned, by the people. Usually currencies, be they $ or £ or ₹, are created by the Government of a country; for e.g. Bitcoins have been created by a person(s) rumoured to be known as Satoshi 🥷. They are not always considered to be a legal currency.
Unicorn (refresher): Other than the mythical creature many of us love 🦄, the term Unicorn is used for a Startup that is worth $1 Billion. How do you decide the worth or value or “valuation” of a startup? Ask Mom or a big person at home.
Marketplace: A marketplace is a space, physical or virtual (on the internet), where buyers and sellers meet, to buy and sell products to each other 🤷. Amazon is one such marketplace, but there are a ton more, especially those that are meant for businesses to buy from one another 🤝. Read about one such in Stocks, Stonks.
Trademark: You’ll come across it in a story below. A trademark is nothing but a sign, name or logo that represents your product. Companies can register a trademark for e.g. their brand name and/or logo so that other companies can’t use the same logos and names for their products. Whats a brand name? Ask mom or a big person at home.

If somersaulting robot spiders weren’t woah enough. This sure is. Remember our Edition #3 monkey? Well, a paralysed man will challenge Neuralink’s monkey 🐒 in a video game that both will play with their minds 😱😱😱. This event is expected to make a huge leap for fighting paralysis 💪. Warren Buffet is an American business man widely regarded as the most successful investor of all time. He is the creator of $650+ billion company Berkshire Hathaway that has investments in wide ranging companies like Apple, Coca-Cola, Heinz and Bank of America. It also owns several companies like Duracell & GEICO Insurance. Warren Buffet’s net worth is estimated at over $100 billion and has pledged to give most of it away to charity with the Giving Pledge, that he founded.
Stocks, stonks and.. ⚡️
Retail aka shopping is back. Walmart beat earnings estimates, reporting $138 billion in Sales. Thats $138 billion, in 1 quarter 🤯. Did you know, Walmart is the highest Revenue generating company in the World? US retailer Target saw sales jump 23% as did Home Depot with a 32% growth 🚀
India adds yet another Unicorn (we’ve already lost count of how many in 2021). Moglix a B2B marketplace for products used in construction and other industries raised $120 million at a $1 billion ‘unicorn’ 🦄 valuation.
Stock trading startup Robinhood 🧙♂️ said it would keep aside certain shares from it’s planned IPO for users of its platform. Discuss with Dad or a big person at home how pre-IPO allocations work.
Mental models.. whaaaat! 🤯
My dad insisted we put this section in here, even though I protested saying its going to be a while before kids need to apply mental models. Mental models are nothing but ways of thinking, you can use as a framework, to take decisions or solve problems. Who knows, they might just be useful!
Cognitive Bias 🧠 - Sometimes we tend to think that our view, on a topic or event, is the right view ✅. However this view may be biased by our own beliefs and incorrect information, and turn out to be entirely wrong ❌.
Therefore, whenever you have to give a point of view, pause and think through if you are basing your view on your belief, or on some hard data 📊 and factual information 📋? Doing so will make you have a stronger point of view, that can rarely be refuted. Tech, products, toys ++ 🤖
Imagine, a rollable phone! 🌯 Rather a phone with a rollable screen. Samsung applied for a Trademark of the the name ‘Z Roll’. Raising hopes that a rollable screen phone is coming soon and might be called the Galaxy Z Roll.
Mars might be headed for traffic jams 😅 of a whole new kind 🛰. China successfully landed its Tianwen-1 spacecraft & Zhurong rover, making it only the 3rd rover on Mars. Ok, maybe we were exaggerating on the traffic jams bit 🙃.
