The pandemic impacted them rather adversely, Disney’s theme park division dropped revenue from $26 billion to $16 billion. Not to mention the impact of over 125,000 jobs. It’s good to have them back. 👍

Wait, what is..
Demand 🙂: The amount of goods 💻 🔭 (products) and services 🩺 📝 required or wanted by people. Get nerdy here. Basically, if you need it or want it, that generates demand. Try using Demand generation as an argument next time Dad or a big person says “do you need it or do you want it?” 😁
Supply 🙂: The amount of goods and services readily available for people to buy 🤑. Get nerdy here. 🛁
Demand & Supply 🤔: Or more accurately Supply and Demand is a base concept in economics ✍️?! Each of these impact the price of goods and services in interesting ways. In the above example, there was a very limited supply (1 seat 🪑) of something that was in a lot of demand (who doesn’t want to go to Space 🌍); and this supply & demand mismatch meant the price of the seat bid went zooming to $28 million 🚀. Read more about Supply & Demand in our mental models section.👇
Go To Market: Basically a plan of action that decides various factors of how you will introduce your product or service to the world 🪐 (and someday to the universe beyond earthlings 👽 👾).
Board: The Board or Board of Directors of a company oversee functioning of a company or organisation.
Source code 👇: It sounds rather secretive 🕵️♂️, but its really just a collection of computer code / computer programs 🤷. In fairness though, it could refer to the earliest or most important part of the code that runs a particular program.
Woah 😱 Weird 🥴
World Wide Web’s source code 😱 to be sold as an NFT by its inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee. Did you know that the world wide web 🌐 is different to the Internet? Discuss the differences with Mom or a big person at home.
You know we love robots 🤖. Especially so when they save human 🤕 lives. Amazon introduced new robots at is warehouse to reduce injuries… and aims to half them from their current levels by 2025 👏.
Inspiring business people to know 🙏
Meet MacKenzie Scott, our inspiring business persons of this week.
MacKenzie Scott is an American novelist & philanthropist and also happens to be the 3rd richest woman in the world 🥳. Her net worth is estimated at a whopping $57 billion 🤯, stemming majorly from her ownership of shares in the company Amazon. Her first book 📚, The Testing of Luther Albright, written in 2005 won her the American Book Award. What makes her even more special? The fact that she has chosen to give away almost all of her wealth to charities during her lifetime; as part of the Giving Pledge. 🙇🙇♂️
Stocks, stonks and.. ⚡️
The UK 🇬🇧 is now home to 100 startups worth $1bn+ 🦄 x 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ 🤯 👇.
Last week we covered PayTM as the most valuable Indian startup, with a cool $16 billion valuation. Well this week seems they lost the 👑 crown 😱! EdTech company Byjus raised ~ $350 million at a $16.5 billion 🤯 valuation. Even though the lead may not last as long, it goes a long way to show that the India startup ecosystem is heating up. P.S homegrown e-commerce company Flipkart that’s no longer considered a startup (post its acquisition by Walmart) is valued at ~$30 billion 🤯🤯🤯.
PUBG maker Krafton, a South Korean company, is planning an IPO to raise a massive $5 billion 🥳 .
Mental models.. whaaaat! 🤯
My dad insisted we put this section in here, even though I protested saying its going to be a while before kids need to apply mental models. Mental models are nothing but ways of thinking, you can use as a framework, to take decisions or solve problems. Who knows, they might just be useful!
Supply & Demand -
A fundamental economic mental model
📈📉 - Supply and Demand is
essentially a model that helps determine the price of goods and services
. What it says is that the price of anything will vary till the time that demand = supply.
The moment demand increases and supply does not, there is likely to be an increase 📈 in price - because more people want something that is no longer available or in short supply - Ask Dad about HeMan 🏋️.
The moment supply increase and demand does not, there is likely to be a decrease 📉 in price - because there is more of something available than there are those wanting to buy it. Remember how couple of weeks ago Bitcoin was in meltdown mode?
Tech, products, toys ++ 🤖
2022 Apple Watch may come with a body temperature check function 😵💫 🌡️; later years may also see Blood Glucose monitoring for diabetes patients 👏.
AdTech is coming to the virtual world. Facebook introduced virtual reality ads in its Oculus VR device and platform. Dad says, now I can drink up that imaginary Fanta whenever I want 😂🥸😝.
