Busy business this week 💼
Metaverse moves heat up 🪐. Facebook finally morphed into reality, or virtual reality 🕶 should we say, its first for-office Metaverse project. Grown ups 😎will now be able to use Occulus’s VR headset and ‘work’ out of a virtual office environment 🤯.
Toy company, ToysRUs is back 🎉. It’ll be available as a store-in-store at more than 400 Macy’s shops bringing a collection of toys🧸, games🕹, and other gadgets for kids.
Microsoft announced a price increase 📈 for its Microsoft 365 and Office 365 products by 10-20% 🤷. Pricing updates go into effect 1st March 2022.
Court 🏛 documents filed in the Epic Anti-Trust case have shown that Google paid OEM aka Original Equipment Manufacturers aka mobile phone 📱 makers to not install third party app stores on their devices 😱. You’ll recall anti-trust as basically being anti-competitive. By paying phone makers to not place any other app stores on their device, Google promoted anti-competitive behaviour 🥷.
China 🇨🇳 has approved a new privacy law called the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) that goes into effect on 1st November 2021. This new law also applies to government departments, so it remains to be seen how it will impact state surveillance📹. Discuss with Mom or a big person “what is surveillance”.
Wait, what is..
Customs: A department, in the government of a country, responsible for controlling the inflow and outflow of products to a country. They are also responsible for deciding important taxes on imports and exports of goods. Discuss with Dad or a big person “what are Imports & Exports”.
Commission (useful later): A percentage of fee kept by a person or company enabling a transaction.
API (useful alter): API or Application Programming Interface is a way for one software program to ‘talk’ to the other i.e. interface with each other.

Those Boston Dynamics Atlas robots keeping getting scarily better. They just maxed a parkour course 🤸 👇. And to think the global robotics market is nearly a $50 billion market already 😱. Will it 10x or 100x by 2050!? Discuss with Mom or a big person.
I wouldn’t be too concerned about how good they’re getting.. these Humanoids are freakishly Human, i.e. they fail and fall too 😅👇.
Inspiring business people to know 🙏
Meet Charles Lazarus our inspiring business person of this week.
Charles Lazarus was an American entrepreneur in the toy 🪁 industry and the founder of Toys "R" Us. He originally opened a children’s furniture store in Washington, D.C. in 1948 an then switched to selling toys in 1957; after realising he was selling more toys than furniture.. People never bought more kids furniture 🛏, but always bought more toys as kids grew up! He led Toys “R” Us to become the biggest toy retailer in the US, and it remained so until 1998, when Walmart overtook it. In 2017, Toys “R” Us filed for bankruptcy. He died at the age of 94, in 2018. It’s good to see them come back in 2021 👍.
Stocks, stonks and.. ⚡️
Commission free stock trading app Robinhood, reported over 100% growth in its Q2 revenues over previous year, but even then the stock tanked over 10%. Cryptocurrency transactions made up over 50% of revenues compared to just 17% in the previous quarter. $HOOD has warned transactions will drop in coming quarters. Check out that revenue bar graph 📊 👇

Mental models.. whaaaat! 🤯
My dad insisted we put this section in here, even though I protested saying its going to be a while before kids need to apply mental models. Mental models are nothing but ways of thinking, you can use as a framework, to take decisions or solve problems. Who knows, they might just be useful!
Dunbar's Number as Mental Model for Friendships?!👯 - It was great meeting old friends on our recent travels and also to learn about Dunbar's Number.
Dunbar's Number, proposed by British anthropologist Robin Dunbar, states that our brain can realistically maintain relationships with no more than 150 people 🤯🤯. It further goes on to say that you can maintain 2 special friendships, 5 close friends, and 15 good friends 😱! I'm left wondering "That's it"?!
We're not entirely sure you should apply a mental model when making friends; but it might just help you understand your friendships.. and hey next time atleast you'll know the reason why you lost touch with someone.Tech, products, toys ++ 🤖

India ride hailing startup Ola, that had ventured into electric vehicles just launched it’s first product, the Ola S1 Electric Scooter 🛵. Its pretty rad 👇. The S1 is priced at Rs.99,999 while the S1 Pro comes at Rs.129,999 🚀.
